What is BEC?
BEC Gala stands for Black Excellence Community Gala and celebrates the achievements of top black leaders across Spartanburg County. BEC was formed to celebrate black businesses in the Spartanburg County Area. It was also developed to unite the black community to celebrate positive achievements and difference-makers.
The Process
We will take nominations or self-nominations from February 24, 2023, to March 20, 2023. We want to celebrate for-profit and non-profit businesses within Spartanburg County. After the nominations are closed, we will email each company selected for the 2023 year an application form in which a committee will choose winners. For the for-profit category, the top 12 winners will be recognized at the gala, with the top 7 winners receiving a monetary grant. For the Non-Profit section, five winners will be identified and will have a chance to perform in the lip-sync battle for an $800 grant.
